Meet the Team
Jeff Durosko, a former journalist and 25-year veteran of public relations and media relations, offers a broad range of writing, crisis communications, strategic communications planning, PR and media relations experience. From expert positioning to event promotion; hard news to feature pieces, Durosko has had success in every realm of the news media with clients in education, banking, professional services and technology. Since launching his business, Durosko has worked with a wide variety of clients on writing, strategic communications planning, crisis communications, media relations and event promotion projects.
An award-winning writer, Jeff’s previous experience at Education Management Corporation and Robert Morris College (now University), the Greater Pittsburgh Office of Promotion and Price Waterhouse, all involved crisis communications, writing and both local and national media relations management Durosko is an experienced media trainer, who has conducted media and spokesperson training sessions for corporate leaders, school presidents and communications professionals.
Carrie Butler specializes in media relations, project management, emergency response, managing digital reputation and effective crisis communications planning. She has managed crisis response for situations involving student and employee suicide, fatal accidents, K-12 and higher education campus bomb threats, insect infestation, employee theft, weather and natural disasters, and organizational communications related to layoffs and downsizing.
Before joining a strategic partnership with JDC, she served as senior director of public relations for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh where she was responsible for the campus communications and outreach program with measurable success in media relations, publications, events, fundraising and community partnership development.
Kim Resnik offers a broad range of communications and public relations skills, from strategy and planning to content generation, media relations and executive training to event management. Her 30-year career has also included a variety of crisis communications activities, from creating crisis communications plans to managing on-site crisis responses for situations including armed robbery, fire, insect infestation, suicides, infectious disease, bomb threats, union picketing, whistle-blowers, natural disasters and weather closings, as well as communications related to layoffs and downsizing.
Prior to partnering with JDC, she served as executive director of college communications for Gwinnett Technical College, where she established the entire inhouse communications function; regional public relations manager for The Art Institutes (part of Education Management Corporation); director of communications for The Art Institute of Atlanta, as well as heading both public relations and marketing at the Atlanta History Center and the Alliance Theatre Company.
Deborah Helman has served as a spokesperson for educational and corporate organizations, possessing extensive experience dealing with crises as well as celebrations. As the first official PR director for Parsons School of Design in NYC, Deborah was able to create a robust communication program that strengthened the reputation and the image of the school as well as setting up their first crises preparedness plan.
Deborah was also involved in developing and managing relationships with outside firms, organizations, as well as famous alumni and celebrities. She has managed and coordinated numerous events while working for Sotheby's (NYC), Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (NYC), PaperCity Magazine (Houston, San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta) and The Art Institute of Houston.
